CONSTRUCTION work has started on a new branch of a fast food chain.

A Burger King drive-thru and restaurant is due to open up in Barrow’s Hindpool Retail Park in place of former Frankie and Benny’s.

This is what our readers had to say about it:

Laura Marshall said: Why are we getting a Burger King... it’s the worst fast food chain going. Could do with a Nando’s.

Kenneth Lamb said: Makes no sense, traffic is already a nightmare on the Hollywood Park roundabout with queues for McDonald’s and KFC. I have no problem with a Burger King it’s just a stupid position in terms of traffic congestion.

Mark Anderson said: About time.. but then the bad placing of all these outlets and the additional road layout does nothing but gridlock the town centre, and routes in and out, as people will not obey basic road signage and instructions, nor have common sense to leave a gap at junctions and roundabouts.

Sam Kerr said: Food is going to be freezing by the time you get out of that junction..... Bad enough as it is now.

Catherine Higginson-Smith said: It couldn’t compete with Maccies when they both opened on Dalton Road... what makes them think it can now? Plus I think that building is cursed!

Adam Parkinson said: Great news... I’m supplying equipment to the contractor. Which means money being put into the local businesses and economy.

Carl Gaitskell said: Can't wait, love a good Burger King.

Rachel Athersmith said: Great news, get something in Ulverston, more traffic chaos in Barrow towards the fast food outlets.

Darren Quinn said: They need to redesign Hollywood Park carpark before this opens up and redirect the queues like they did on the first lockdown.

Carrie Sawyer said: Dreading the traffic there, it is a nightmare now, round about gets cut off now with KFC and Macdonald's.

Alan Davis said: More traffic jams, so much for the town planners.

Angela McIlvogue said: I'm going to avoid that area like the plague it's bad enough with the traffic now let alone when Burger King opens.

Steve Vernon said: This will be completed before McDonald’s drive thru in Ulverston. Been 12 months since plans passed.
