EMERGENCY services were called out after a paraglider crashed his aircraft .

North West Ambulance Service and Duddon and Furness Mountain Rescue Team were dispatched to the Great Burney area on Wednesday afternoon following reports of a crashed paraglider.

Upon arrival, paramedics discovered the paraglider appeared to have a fractured femur, with possible ankle and pelvic injuries.

The glider was then airlifted for treatment to hospital.

A spokesman for Duddon and Furness Mountain Rescue Team said: "A fast and efficient response by all agencies meant a high level of medical care was on scene very quickly.

"The teams worked together to immobilise the casualty in case of spinal injuries after a fall from heigh, strong pain relief was administered and the casualty was packaged so they could be kept warm and stretchered to the air ambulance for transfer to hospital.

"The team would like to wish the casualty a speedy and full recovery."
