READERS had plenty to say about Number 10's new Covid-19 restrictions - including the 'Rule of Six' - as community leaders in south Cumbria urged residents to stick to the new instructions and limit the spread of the virus.

Therese Assouad: Some people feel it's not important for them to stick to rules. Sadly, I have seen plenty of examples of this over the last few weeks. These same people are the first to complain when tighter measures are introduced. Please, everyone, act responsibly and put community welfare higher up on your list of priorities.

Helen Dixon: In the last week alone I’ve seen so many young people in Ulverston not wearing masks in shops! Three teenage lads in Booths walking through in sports gear, getting their lunch walking past all the elderly who were wearing masks - not a mask in sight on the young lads! People can’t stick to the already existing rules, so no chance of them sticking to the new rules!

Yvonne Tippett: Yes, I've noticed this on certain public buses in Barrow. I know some people who are exempt from the new restrictions. But there seem to be a lot of people aged 18 and upwards who are not wearing masks currently. I thought you were legally required to wear one on public transport.

Susan Kent: I went to TK Maxx in town the other day. People were wandering around without any kind of mask or face covering on. I've seen people going into Cowards Pharmacy on Hartington Street. Similar story thee - no masks or face coverings being worn whatsoever. They can't all have breathing problems!

Terry Hulme: Please, fellow town residents, stop chucking your frigging rubbish and face masks all over the place. That would help stop the spread of the virus in the town. Oh, and if you want to drive up or down Bridgegate, please don't chuck your bags of rubbish out of a moving car. Use a bin, please. It's not a big ask, nor is it a difficult concept to grasp.

Tony Moon: Morrison's need to reintroduce their one-way system for going in and out of the shop.

Paul Griffiths: The new rules: bird-watching with six mates will get you fined; shooting birds with 29 mates is okay, though. This government is shocking!
