A BARROW junior school is calling on the town's knitters and crocheters to help with a colourful and creative project.

Pupils at Greengate Junior School are taking on a creative 'yarn bombing' project, and need the help of kind individuals to donate granny squares and brightly coloured ribbon.

A representative for the school said: "We're looking for knitted or crochet granny squares of any size to help get Year 4's bright and colourful 'yarn bombing' project underway.

"Yarn bombing is a form of yarn-based street art where knitters and crocheters cover trees, poles, and public structures with knitted and crocheted fabric.

"The children will weave together the granny squares with pieces of ribbon and yarn."

If you can help out, call Greengate Junior School on 01229 812592

Donations will be set aside for a number of days to comply with covid-19 guidelines.
