INVESTIGATIONS are still ongoing into a sexual assault that took place in Vickerstown Park in Walney - police have confirmed.

Three teenagers targeted a 15-year-old boy and pulled down his trousers during a sexual assault in a park, according to police.

The force launched an investigation following the incident, which is said to have taken place at 7.30pm on August 11.

At this time no charges have been brought but the investigation is still ongoing.

Walney councillor Des Barlow, who described the incident as ‘disgusting’ back in August, spoke about the incident is not acceptable behaviour and he is keen to see the crime dealt with by police.

Cllr Barlow wants the public to help the police in any way they can with this incident.

“There is not a lot you can say really as the police are still investigating the incident,” he said.

“I just don’t like anything like this happening in the area.

“The sooner this gets dealt with the better really as it took place near a play area in a public place.

“We do not what things like this going on in a public area.

“It is important to report this issues as people should know this is not acceptable behaviour.”

According to police, the 15-year-old victim was approached by three boys aged between 16 and 17-years-old.

They made comments to him and attempted to pull his trousers down.

The teens are described as slim and dressed in black. The three had dark brown hair, light hair and blonde hair, with officers stating that they believe all three are local.

Officers are still appealing for witnesses, so anyone with information is encouraged to contact the police on 101, quoting incident number 212 of August 11.
