A DALTON takeaway has been awarded one star following its latest hygiene inspection.

Bodrum Continental of Station Road, which specialises in Pizza’s and Turkish delicacies, was inspected on August 5.

Despite the food safety officer awarding the takeaway ‘very good’ for hygienic food handling, ‘good’ for cleanliness and condition of facilities and building, they said ‘major improvement' was necessary for management of food safety.

Councillor Tony Callister, Barrow Borough Council spokesperson for licensing and public protection said the authority is always keen to work with businesses to get the food hygiene up to standards.

The councillor explained: “Bodrum Continental in Dalton was inspected on August 5, 2020 and awarded a rating of one under the National Food Hygiene Rating Scheme.

“Barrow Borough Council encourages business operators to request a re-score visit if they have not achieved a satisfactory rating so that any immediate improvements secured and recommendations already actioned can be assessed.

“The Food Safety team is always keen to work with businesses in order to ensure their rating reaches its maximum potential.”

In the latest round of food hygiene inspections, 62 eateries in Dalton managed to score five stars when it came to food hygiene.

On top of the five star ratings, a total of eight food businesses also scored a four rating.

Bodrum Continental was contacted for comment but had not responded by the time The Mail went to print.
