1. DW Fitness First in Barrow, Hindpool Road
The national chain gym has a state of the art gym that is well thought of by its customers for the services it offers. Customers have commented and praise the staff at the branch for maintaining strict social distancing rules since opening – however the new rules haven’t hampered the customer’s experience when they are working out.
2. Ironwerx Gym, Barrow
The gym comes with no contracts and no strings, people can just turn up and train when they wish and pay as they train. The gym has been praised for being a welcoming place with great equipment, and has been described as being run by passionate people who enjoy training and everything about it,
3. Walshys Gym, Dalton
The fitness centre in Dalton now boasts over 100 members and over 15 personal training clients. The fitness centre offers personal training courses on the site, and the owner posts tips and fitness advice online, something which has been praised by customers.
4. Nuffield Health gym, Hindpool Road
The Nuffield Health local branch in Barrow offers a range of services, from the gym, but it also boasts a pool area, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Members who attend the facility have praised the staff for their helpfulness and adherence to new Covid rules.
5. Furness Health Studio, Greengate Street
24-hour gym in Barrow town centre - open seven days a week. A competitive bodybuilding gym with the Furness Fight Factory upstairs. Recommended by resident Daniel Alicuic.
6. Flexappeal Gym, Hartington Street
Town centre fitness hub to cater for all fitness and dietary requirements with knowledge and experience second to none - which is free to members. Sports therapist Martin Williams said of the gym: "Honestly the best physio I've ever had - and I've had a few".
7. Life Leisure Barrow Park, Greengate Street
Leisure centre in the heart of Barrow offering mixed classes, gym sessions, fitness activities for children, pool exercises and regular swimming sessions. Friendly and approachable.
8. Infinity Fitness and Nutrition, James Freel Close
Small friendly, family-run fitness and gymnastics centre in Barrow. Comfortable environment for all. Dance classes and nutrition courses run out of the centre as well as more traditional gym services.
9. Watson's Boxing and Fitness, Ulverston
Family-run gym. Its head Coach is professional boxer Ryan Watson. Runs senior and junior sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings
10. Barrow MMA, Greengate Street
Mixed martial arts centre in the heart of Barrow.
