TNT Records in Barrow have gone from strength to strength since coming out of lockdown - and were left overwhelmed by the support of people who queued up for Record Store Day 2020.

The Duke Street vinyl specialists made a name for themselves on Record Store Day last year when they had hundreds queuing down the street wanting to get their hands on the latest releases.

This year was no exception with the added factor of social distancing to contend with for owner Dave Turner, who said that people used their common sense and waited until there was room in the shop, and that all guidelines were followed in what was smooth sailing in difficult circumstances.

“What an amazing turnout for the Record Store Day UK,” he said.

“We had queues around the corner, it was incredible.

“We can’t thank all our supporters enough.

“Orders went through the roof on our website and tons ordered these super limited edition releases when the remaining RSD stock went up online at 6pm.

“TNT Records customers are the best and we are blessed to have you all as our customers and friends.

"It gives us so much pleasure to bring the music to you day in day out seven days a week, not just for RSD

“That was about 70 per cent of the releases this weekend then next month there will be a smaller one.

“I had people contacting me from all over. I had emails from Europe and Canada about it in the week leading up to it. All the remaining stock we had on the Saturday was put on our website at 6pm. Then we had 100 orders to go out the next day going to places like Germany, California, and Vegas.

“Everyone was patient. We were handing out hot drinks in the queue.”

Record Store Day is the one day of the year when over 200 independent record shops all across the UK come together to celebrate their unique culture. Due to COVID-19 concerns, this year’s RSD will be taking place across three dates with the next two on September 26 and October 24.
