A teenage boy is one of two people still being questioned by police, as they investigate the alleged murder of a man in Carlisle.

A 17-year-old boy and a 25-year old man remain in police custody after being arrested on Wednesday morning, in connection with Cumbria police’s ongoing investigations into the death of 26-year-old Carlisle man Lee McKnight.

The arrests were made in the Blackwell Road area of Currock, and the Howe Street area, off Fusehill Street not far from the city centre. Both were arrested on suspicion of murder.

This brought the total number of people arrested in connection with the investigation to eight.

Four were charged last week with murder: Jamie Davidson, 25, of Beverly Rise; Carol Edgar, 46, of Charles Street; Coral Edgar, 25, of Charles Street; and Paul Roberts, 50, of Grey Street.

Janice Edgar, 40, of Hale End Road, Carlisle, was charged with assisting an offender and possession of drugs with intent to supply, and a 47-year-old Carlisle woman was released on bail following her arrest.

Anyone with information that might help police is asked to call 101 and ask to speak to an officer from the North Cumbria Crime and Safeguarding Team.
