A FAMILY was rescued after becoming lost in the dark while walking part of the Coast to Coast route.
Keswick Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) was called out to the incident above Lining Crag, near Grasmere, at around 8.45pm on Monday.
A KMRT spokesman said a couple and their daughter had become lost.
The spokesman said: "The family’s mobile phone battery had finally died after repeatedly trying to call for help when they lost the path and ended up bog-hopping around Greenup Edge.
"The one call that got through was enough for a general fix on their location. The team escorted the family down to the valley with torches and then drove them to Borrowdale Hostel where they were staying."
The incident took around two hours and 20 minutes to deal with.
