A Cumbrian museum is "delighted" to have received recognition for its education work - for the second year running.
Workington’s Helena Thompson Museum has qualified for the ‘Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge’ from the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC).
Museum manager Tricia Poole said: “We are delighted to receive this award again, it is some really good news in what has been and still is very difficult times for us.
"We have unfortunately had to cancel all our school visits over the last few months, which was really sad as the schools and my team of volunteers love working together. We really do miss seeing the pupils and staff and sharing our local history with them.
"We’re looking forward to safer times ahead when they will return to us, but until then we have all worked hard to put in place this quality badge again and I personally thank my team of volunteers who we rely on so much.”
The badge is a nationally recognised indicator of good quality educational provision and effective risk management.
It indicates that the provider understands schools’ needs and can tailor their offer to fit in with both current curriculum requirements and any specific requirements of the school.
