Neighbourhood Watch has launched a campaign in a bid to prevent an expected rise in the number of burglaries post-lockdown.
As more people are out and about, Safety in Neighbours urges people in Cumbria to look out for unusual behaviour where they live.
It's being run in partnership with the Home Office and aims to alert those most at risk, giving them practical tools that are proven to prevent burglaries.
Neighbourhood Watch says properties with security measures including window locks, internal and external lights on timers and double or deadlocks on doors are 50 times less likely to be targeted by burglars than those without.
The campaign – which comes from the idea that life is safer when you know your neighbours – is aimed at the younger generation to get them involved and encourage them to help spread awareness on social media.
