AN ALLEGED dangerous driver, accused of killing three members of the same family on Father's Day, is set to appear in court today.

David Logan, 47, of Broughton Road, Dalton, will make his first appearance at Preston Crown Court today, accused of causing the death by dangerous driving of Joshua Flynn, 37, his son Coby-Jay, 15, and daughter Skylar, 12.

The family, along with their dog Troy, were killed while out for a Father's Day walk when they were hit by a Peugeot 206 on Abbey Road in Dalton-in-Furness, at about 2.30pm on Sunday, June 21.

In a statement, the Flynn family said of the tragedy: “From the minute we received this terrible news our whole world has been turned upside down and no words can describe how devastated we are feeling.

“We are utterly heartbroken and upset by the loss of Joshua, Coby-Jay and Skylar.

“We would like to thank everyone for their kind messages of support, the cards and donations received.”

Both Coby-Jay and his sister Skylar attended Furness Academy.

On the day of their funeral, school children, teachers and parents lined Park Drive, outside of the school, and erupted in applause as the funeral procession of the Flynn family paused on the road.

Previously, a school spokesman said: “It will take us all a very long time to come to terms with the loss and the manner in which it happened.

“We are all deeply shocked and saddened that two bright and beautiful young people have had their lives tragically ended."
