Carolyn Wilson said: “I think carers should be on a pay rise then there would be more care workers we also work long hours like nurses we don’t get time off at Christmas we have to work.”

Christine Rowan said: “I think everybody that has worked during his pandemic, deserves a pay rise or a one off bonus but at the end of the day we are all just doing our job so we should just have to get on with it.”

Christine Petrie said: “It’s a publicity stunt. It’s pay rises they would have got anyway. It’s the reason why nurses weren’t included as they have already negotiated a pay deal a few years ago.”

Nicola White said: “I’m genuinely pleased these groups are receiving long overdue pay rises. However, nurses and clinical support workers in COVID Red and Blue areas have been at the coal face of this pandemic. Face to face with critically ill patient after patient, often their own friends and colleagues, under incredible stress and at great personal risk. I absolutely do not want to take away from other groups of key workers, but surely the burden of the pandemic has been felt most acutely by those dealing with it on a daily basis since the start. Are they not the most deserving group?”

Catherine Miller said: “I think all keyworkers should have some sort of bonus for working through the pandemic. Some companies have recognised this and acted appropriately to show their employees that they are valued, for example the co-op. Public sector workers bonus/pay rise is obviously sanctioned by the government and unfortunately for some this is lacking. Thankfully most know that the public appreciate them, but it would be nice for just once that it was recognised with an appropriate pay rise in line with inflation. That’s not being greedy it’s just realistically what is deserved pandemic or no pandemic!!

Paula Herbert said: “All NHS care workers shop workers etc all deserve one.”

Simon Rogerson said: “Nurses have an already agreed 4% pay rise last year.”
