LIKE many sports and pastimes Yoga businesses have had to adapt to lockdown, but now Barrow’s only studio is reopening.

During the lockdown, LightBird Yoga was able to put on free meditation sessions, yoga classes and pilates for its students via Zoom.

But as restrictions are reduced, the studio has announced it will be reopening its doors next month.

Matthew Jefferson, sports co-ordinator at Furness College said “The Zoom classes were a hit with both students and the staff.

“They gave everyone the opportunity to stay active during a difficult time and also allowed everyone to concentrate on their own wellbeing. The feedback was fantastic”.

Owner Rachel Lightbird said: “The response was amazing. We ended up connecting more and more with organisations across the Peninsula.

“The studio delivered classes to the staff and students at Furness College, Well Community members, and Pennington Guides.

“We ran a socially-distanced trip to the stone circle at Birkrigg Common for the Solstice, went on cherry-picking trips and organised kombucha swaps.

“We also had some fab classes at the beautiful Barrow Park.”

Scheduled to put on socially distanced sessions from August 1, LightBird will put on classes of up to seven students, as well as online options for those not in attendance.

Classes range from group workouts to private lessons for children and adults.
