THE shelter at the popular ornamental gardens in Grange-over-Sands has been given a revamp.
The ‘duck hut’ had been subject to misuse and vandalism over the years.
It has now been turned into a viewing and picnic area with tables which were made by Flookburgh-based firm P Dalton Engineering & Construction.
The money for the project was raised by a group of local people known as the Three Parks Group, which applied to funding bodies for the money to replace the shelter.
The money for a new plaque on the structure, made by Jones the engravers, was raised through the sale of duck food at the gardens by local man Tom Ross.
The ribbon on the new picnic area was cut by Cllr Bill Wearing.
The pond in the ornamental gardens is a great attraction for both visitors and residents.
The Three Parks Group maintains the flowers and shrubs in conjunction with Continental Landscapes, gardening contractors for the district council.
