A HAND sanitiser is being urgently recalled after it was found to contain potentially lethal chemicals.
An alert has been issued by The Chartered Trading Standards Institute for Shield Hand Sanitiser Gel.
The product is said to be ineffective at killing bacteria and viruses - and to contain the toxic substance methanol.
It is believed to be a fire risk.
Made in the UK, the 100ml gel is said to have been mainly sold online, particularly on eBay.
Ingestion or contact with methanol leads to blindness and death, the alert says.
