PLANS that would have made the main roads of Grasmere into a one-way system are unlikely to go ahead.
The main road passing through the village, down Stock Lane and from Broadgate Orchard to Easedale Road would have become a one way system on a temporary basis.
South Lakeland councillor Mr Clark said: "The plans were for a northerly one-way system down Stock Lane, down Broadgate and up to Swan hill.
"This scheme was well intentioned but it’s going back to the drawing board.
"Now it is one-metre distancing, we are thinking of scaling down the plan.
Concerns had been raised by local residents in regards to the effects it will have on transport and local businesses.
Residents have also claimed they were not told about the plan in advance. Discussions are underway on future changes, but the one-way system is unlikely to go ahead.
