BOSSES from a town centre have describing how they have been forced to adapt during the coronavirus pandemic.

Smiler's Cafe in Barrow has been selling hundreds of meals every day during the crisis after switching to a delivery service.

The cafe has also branched out into selling desserts from its base in Dalton Road.

Lisa Clark, a co-owner of the cafe, said: "It's been a very challenging time but I think we've coped well.

"We've had to make a lot of changes inside the cafe for safety reasons.

"But we've had so much support from people during this time and I think we've done really well."

Like many cafes and restaurants, Smiler's has turned to the delivery app Barrow Eats to sell its food during lockdown.

The cafe has also launched it Treats N Eats brand on the app, selling sweet treats and desserts.

"We've had a great first week.

"A lot of people are enjoying our waffles and cake boxes."

The cafe is still in its infancy having opened in November.

It sells a variety of dishes, including sandwiches, salads and breakfasts.

Managers Ismail Kaya and Lisa Clark opened their own cafe having previously run The Coffee Bean nearby.

Along with pubs and restaurants, cafes will be allowed to reopen from July 4 but Miss Clark said Smiler's had no plans to reopen its doors on safety grounds.
