AN award-winning gin distillery will now be able to host the wedding of gin-lovers’ dreams.

Shed 1 Distillery and The Old Calf Shed Bar has been approved as a registered wedding venue, providing a unique and stylish backdrop for couples to tie the knot.

The company was set up in 2016 by Zoe and Andy Arnold-Bennett who wanted to create high-quality gin which championed Ulverston and Cumbria.

The business has grown from a seven foot shed in a garden to a stylish and unique venue in North Lonsdale Road, Ulverston which offers a great atmosphere and a full range of gins and beers from Ulverston Brewing Company.

At the beginning of the year the couple decided to branch out Shed 1 into weddings and applied for a special licence.

Following months of delay due to the coronavirus crisis, the venue is now officially an approved location for wedding venues.

Mrs Arnold Bennett said: “It’s been a difficult to time for many businesses, including ours, so it’s great to be able to be able to look forward.

“We’re very grateful for all the positive messages wishing us well with all our plans.”

Due to the current situation Shed 1 said it will be Summer 2021 for the first nuptials to take place, but will continue to check guidelines.

Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, Shed 1 Distillery has continued to produce and gift crowdfunded sanitiser for charities, third sector organisations and voluntary groups.

There are also plans to produce a Shed 1 Sanitiser with a proportion of sales being donated to charity.

Before lockdown, Shed 1 had many visitors coming to experience their Make Your Own Gin workshops , the first and only in Cumbria, which received hugely positive feedback.

The popularity of this led the owners to launch an interactive experience demonstrating how to make your own bath tub gin at home.

The Make Your Own Bath Tub Gin Tin includes 10 high quality botanicals, an information and recipe booklet plus a link to a How-To video which is available online.
