A SOUTH Cumbria media and film group is appealing for information that could help it piece together part of a digital archives project.

Signal Film and Media secured National Lottery funding for the two-year-long heritage undertaking in 2020.

It had planned to showcase some of its work in a series of planned exhibitions this spring, before the coronavirus pandemic hit.

The group is asking south Cumbria residents if any know anything about the topically-named Gardiner's Corona Cafe, which was operational in Barrow town centre during the 1910s.

This week, Signal posted the following message on its social media channels: "So we've discovered the [something] weirdly relevant within our Sankey heritage project research & need help!

"Turns out Barrow had a #CORONA Cafe at the top end of Dalton Rd back in the day & we wondered if anyone had any images of it or knew more about it?"

Any readers with information on the cafe can contact the Signal team at: info@signalfilmandmedia.co.uk.
