As it was announced new pop-up cycle lanes are planned for south Cumbria, readers had their say:
Brian Sinclair What do they intend to do for the car drivers then?
Dawn Robinson Waste of money most cyclists ride on the pavement and have little thought for pedestrians.
Harriet Baxter I wonder if it’s because there’s cars on the road that have little thought for cyclists
Dawn Mckellar Harriet Baxter probably, but that doesn’t excuse knocking over pedestrians on pavements does it!
Dawn Robinson Especially when it’s illegal to ride bikes on pavements. I have to look both ways before I step out of my front door due to cyclists.
Stacey Mitchell It’s OK having cycle lanes but it’s getting cyclists to use them
Suzanne Steele The roads are a very dangerous place for cyclists. We don’t all drive cars so i think this is a great idea. I am not a cyclist who rides on the pavement. We are not all guilty of that but i do understand why people do get angry over cyclist riding on pavements.
Rosemary McGerty Cyclists should have training before being allowed on the road and the rule about helmets should be enforced.
Flingal Bunt Won’t make a difference. They never use the roads anyway.
