MOTORISTS are warned there will be delays in certain routes through Barrow town centre and other parts of south Cumbria over the coming days.

There have been reports of delays on Friars Lane in Barrow due to temporary lights, which have been put in place to facilitate telecommunications works at Bridgegate Avenue.

The lights will continue to be in place for a number of days and drivers are advised to seek out alternative routes nearby.

Elsewhere, an emergency 10 miles-per-hour speed limit has been put in place on Lindale Road at Grange-Over-Sands.

Road authorities say the purpose of the emergency closure is to enable Network Plus on behalf of Electricity North West, to carry out emergency repair works as a result of a faulty joint box and cables.

The repair works began yesterday and are expected to last until Friday June 12 at the earliest. Delays along the route are expected as a result of the works.
