A VIRTUAL solidarity event has been hosted this week to support Black Live Matter.
South Cumbria residents Mai Harrison and Robert Zafar Aziz Qazi hosted the online event - which included readings and other gestures of support.
The group joined the national day of action called by the Stand Up To Racism group to demand justice, after the killing of George Floyd in the United States (US)- which has triggered protests across 50 different US states, as well as protests in the UK.
One of its demands is a public inquiry into the disproportionate number of UK BAME deaths during the Coronavirus pandemic, as this week the government delayed publication of a report into the phenomenon.
