CUMBRIA Scouts are celebrating those who make the movement possible during this year’s Volunteers’ Week.

County Commissioner Eddie Ward has been recognised for his commitment through the awarding of the organisation’s prestigious Silver Acorn.

The Silver Acorn award is only presented to volunteers with at least 20 year’s outstanding service, the award is recognition not only for Eddie’s dedication to scouting within Cumbria, but also his previous achievements as an Explorer leader in Carlisle.

Mr Ward said: "I’m very lucky to have such a great team at Cumbria Scouts and such brilliant leaders across the County, especially at the current time, when they are working hard to support Scouting At Home, providing thousands of young people around the County with amazing opportunities and skills for life despite the difficulties of the Coronavirus epidemic.
