An NHS worker has been jailed for nine months suspended for two years after earlier admitting a charge of unlawful wounding.

Chelcea Brough, 21, of Asby Road, Workington, appeared before Carlisle Crown Court for sentencing today (June 2).

She admitted unlawfully wounding Ashleigh Tynan on August 10 last year at the city's crown court on April 28.

Brough, who at the time of the last hearing worked as a home care practitioner, working out of Workington Hospital, was bailed to appear before the court today.

Alongside her suspended sentence, Brough was given 120 hours of unpaid work, a 10-week electronic curfew, was ordered to pay £400 in compensation and was told to pay a £149 victim surcharge.

She was also given a two year restraining order barring her from contacting the victim.
