A TALENTED and thoughtful milliner and her team have created a unique and creative garden of remembrance in a bid to raise some much-needed funds for an Ulverston hospice.

Tracy Wells, of Tracy Wells Designer Millinery said: “30 years ago in June, my Mum died on her 30th wedding anniversary.

“I want to give something back, so does the team.

“We want to build a memorial garden for St Mary’s Hospice as a thank you for the care they’ve given us and our loved ones over the years.”

For 30 days in June, every donation made to the Ulverston hospice through the fundraiser puts a new flower into the remembrance garden. Donations can be made via the Facebook fundraising group, or by posting an envelope through the shop door.

Tracy Wells said: “The hospice has lost so much funding with the Keswick to Barrow and the Coniston to Barrow cancelled, along with other amazing events.

“The more money raised, the better. We need it!”

The fundraiser has already raised an amazing £1,171 in just two days, with a target of £3,000.

Passersby will be able to watch the garden grow as donations come in inside the shop window at Upper Brook Street, Ulverston.

The team are making colourful flower brooches in honour of loved ones, and at the end of June, donators can collect a brooch, or donate back to the Hospice so they can then sell them from their shops.

A spokesperson from St Mary’s Hospice said: “The ‘Garden of Remembrance’ is a lovely fundraising initiative from local milliner Tracy wells and her crafty friends.”
