AN investigation has been launched after a woman was the victim of a 'hate related public order incident'.

Officers said a suspect drove off on a mobility scooter after verbally abusing and threatening a woman in Barrow.

It happened at around 5.30pm on May 27 near Schneider Road playing fields on the entrance to Barrow Scrap Metals, police said.

A spokesman for Cumbria Police said: "The victim has been approached by the suspect who has been verbally abusive towards her and has caused her to feel that violence may be used against her.

"The suspect has made off in on a mobility scooter and is thought to have a springer spaniel type dog.

"A passing car and cyclist are likely to have witnessed/heard it.

"Anyone with information should call PC 2806 Thompson on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting log 186 of the 27th May 2020."
