DISCOUNTED supermarket chain Aldi has revealed how the new Ulverston store will look.

The Beehive Retail Park store on the A590 will open to the public on Thursday with the final touches now being made.

The supermarket is one of a number of businesses based on the retail park with Marks & Spencer's foodhall situated nearby.

The completion of the foodhall has been delayed because of the coronavirus lockdown and an opening date has not been confirmed.

Aldi's new store will be run by store manager, Greg Matthews, along with a team of 30 colleagues.

Details from the supermarket chain also reveal the name of the retail park road - Thomas Way.

The new store will sell fresh, British meat products with weekly offers, Aldi’s exclusive ‘Specially Selected’ range, award-winning Beers, Wines and Spirits, and a ‘Food to Go’ section at the front of the store for busy customers on the go.

Aldi’s legendary Specialbuys will also be available in the middle aisle, with new products every Thursday and Sunday, including a wide range of products from electrical items to garden tools.

Store manager Greg Matthews said: “We’re looking forward to opening the new Aldi store at the Beehive, which will allow the local community to access the everyday essentials they need during this challenging time.

“It will be lovely to welcome customers to the new store and provide them with Aldi’s everyday amazing products.”

Staff at the new Aldi store are calling on local charities and foodbanks in Ulverston and the surrounding area to register with Neighbourly - the supermarket's community engagement platform that links businesses to charitable organisations in the local community.

Local charities which register will be able to collect surplus food and perishable products, such as fruit, vegetables and baked goods, up to five days a week.

Any charities in the area which would like to partner up with the new Aldi store can email aldi@neighbourly.com for more information.

The new store will open from 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and from 10am until 4pm on Sundays. Social distancing measures will be in place.
