A BARROW woman has appeared in court accused of falsely alleging five men had raped her.

Eleanor Williams, of Teasdale Road on Walney, appeared at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

The 19-year-old has been charged with seven counts of perverting the course of justice relating to seven allegations made between 2017 and 2020.

Between October 2017 and January 2018 Williams is accused of making false allegations to the police and falsifying evidence about an allegation of rape and sexual assault which had a tendency to pervert the course of public justice.

Between March 2019 and October 2019 she is accused of making false allegations to the police and falsifying evidence about an allegation of rape which had a tendency to pervert the course of public justice.

Between May 2019 and October 2019 she is accused of two counts of making false allegations to the police and falsifying evidence about an allegation of rape which had a tendency to pervert the course of public justice.

Between June 2019 and July 2019 she is accused of two counts of making false allegations to the police and falsifying evidence about an allegation of rape and sexual assault which had a tendency to pervert the course of public justice.

Three of the charges relate to one man. Williams is also accused of breaching bail conditions on May 20.

She was refused bail and remanded in custody until June 19 when she will appear at Preston Crown Court.
