GIRLS and young women in Ulverston are receiving free sanitary products sent out with food share parcels.
South Lakeland District Council (SLDC) has also updated its location list of collection points for the products which include Grasmere Pharmacy and Waste Not Want Not Community Shed in Cartmel.
SLDC has been delivering the products to pick-up points for several weeks now.
This is part of their scheme to tackle period poverty in the county during the coronavirus pandemic.
There were concerns that pupils, who usually receive free products from their school, would miss out with the current closure of schools.
There are now over 30 collection points in the SLDC area. They are signposted by eye catching signs letting girls know they can take items free of charge. A full list can be found on the council’s website www.southlakeland.gov.uk
