MAIL readers had a lot to say about the news that there had been no new recorded Coronavirus (Covid-19) deaths at hospitals managed by University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMBT) for almost a week, according to health service figures published on Monday afternoon.

Janine McDonald: Great news but what I don't get is people are dying daily and apparently we have highest infection rate yet our death toll is really low. Yes it's fantastic and means our NHS are doing a fab job, but does it add up?

Debbie Schonken: Sending love, light and healing from South Africa. May beautiful Barrow be blessed Les Hall Make sure you are in town when I visit.

Sarah Smith: This world has never experienced Covid-19, so we don’t know much about it, until research has found out truly about it. So we need to take things day by day and week by week. And yes, lockdown has lifted a tiny bit. But still stay at home and social distance! And only go out for essentials because if we get a second windfall it will be worse! But you can’t tell some people! And it’s them that won’t be affected! Sod’s law! But all people need to do is LISTEN to what is being advised by governments! Even if you think it’s right or wrong! Because it’s costing LIVES !!!

Thomas Pearce: Fantastic news, keep up the good work NHS and the public do their bit by [social] distancing.

Sue Calvert: Well done All you guys working so hard at FGH. We cannot thank you all enough. Angels in blue.

Julie Cairns: Fantastic news - hopefully it will stay that way. Well done everyone.

Alex Rayment: [It's] Critical that people don't relax and keep staying at home and social distancing.

Tony Moon: It will peak again once the kids are back at school

Jessica Pennington: No new deaths at hospital doesn't mean there aren't any new deaths at home. The rate is still high for Barrow.
