THE county’s roads police has issued complaints at drivers’ conduct, as restrictions for some begin to lift.
According to Cumbria Roads Police, the force had been/were attempting to facilitate the delivery of Personal Protective Gear across Cumbria this weekend.
But, it published the following message on its social media channels jut after midday Saturday: “With increasing reports of poor driving and a greater number of drivers exceeding the speed limits, due to quiet roads, we may have no choice but to return to our day job”.
This followed a report from the roads police on Friday of a hit and run incident involving one moving and three stationary vehicles.
The driver made off from the scene but was located nearby.
Once the driver was located, racial abuse and two separate instances of aggravated assault towards the officers present was reported.
The roads police added that no officers were hurt during the incidents.
