THEY are the heroes guiding us through the coronavirus crisis.

And now staff from Furness General Hospital who are working hard to keep us safe and healthy have been captured in a heartwarming video.

The faces of the doctors, nurses, caterers and ambulance staff who work at Barrow’s hospital have been captured in the moving tribute .

A series of pictures that show staff from a number of areas in the hospital, it was made by FGH worker Charlotte Helm, who said she wanted to show people how the hospital is getting through the crisis with a smile.

She said: “I wanted to make the video to show the staff at the hospital that we are all in this together and to show people that despite everything we are all carrying on with a smile on our faces.

“The video is a tribute to all departments at FGH even though I didn’t manage to get photos of them all.

“I am a practice educator at FGH so I help with training of staff but I’m also working clinical shifts on the wards and departments that require extra staff to support them in caring for patients affected by the virus.”

The hospital worker advised people on their roles during the coronavirus crisis and how they could support health practitioners in this unprecedented time.

“One thing the community can do to help is listen to the government's guidance and stay at home unless absolutely necessary,” she said.

“This is the biggest way they can help to stop the spread of the virus and save lives in our community.”

The video ends with the message ‘we stay here for you, please stay at home for us’.

Thousands of people across the country have been showing their support for NHS workers during the coronavirus crisis.

Households have been taking part in Clap for our Carers to show appreciation for health and other essential workers.
