THE impact of coronavirus continues to be felt across the rail industry and, in response to this, Northern has had to reduce the number of services it operates on Sundays.

Those trains which are still running are intended to help key workers get where they need to be at the weekend.

Only essential journeys should be made and anyone travelling for any other reason may be challenged by colleagues from British Transport Police.

Where trains are not running, Northern is still working to provide rail replacement coaches, but this may not be possible on all routes.

Lines with a rail service on Sunday April 5:

Barrow – Manchester Airport: two hourly service

Windermere – Manchester Airport: two hourly service

Carlisle – Workington: two hourly service

Barrow – Whitehaven: two hourly service
