ANOTHER person has died at a South Cumbria healthcare trust after contracting Coronavirus (Covid-19).

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust (UHMBT) recorded a further Covid-19-related death, which took place on Friday March 27.

UHMBT runs Furness General Hospital, Westmorland General Hospital and the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

The two hospital trusts that serve Cumbria have now reported 28 deaths - 16 in the Morecambe Bay area and 12 in north Cumbria, at the trust that runs the Cumberland Infirmary and West Cumberland Hospital.

"In a statement, NHS England said: A further 159 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in England to 1,284.

"Patients were aged between 32 and 98 years old and all but 4 patients (aged between 56 and 87 years old) had underlying health conditions.

"Their families have been informed."
