NHS STAFF working on the front line during the battle with coronavirus are entitled to a free evening meal at one of the town centre’s new restaurants.

Barrow Indian Cuisine has promised free chicken biryani meals for NHS workers as a small token of it gratitude for their efforts.

The Indian eatery on 52 Cavendish Street, which opened its doors in January, said the offer applied to all and any NHS staff - not just those at Furness General Hospital.

Owner Shamim Chowdhury said: “Just provide your NHS team badge to us to claim your free food as a small thank you from us.

“Thank you for keeping us safe right now during this crucial time.”

Mr Chowdhury said the offer is valid between 8pm and 10pm.
