CORONAVIRUS cases have risen to 7 in Blackburn with Darwen.

Public Health England announced the death toll in the UK has risen to 1,019 after more cases are confirmed.

As of 5pm on 27 March, 1,019 have sadly died from the virus, with 17,089 people tested positive.

Lancashire's cases have now increased to 141, and Blackburn with Darwen has seven cases, while Blackpool has 9.

The jump in Covid-19-related deaths in the UK from 759 to 1,019 is an increase of 260 - by far the biggest day-on-day rise in the number of deaths since the outbreak began.

As of 9am 28 March, a total of 120,776 have been tested, and of these,103,687 are negative.

The victims were aged between 33 and 100 years old.

It comes as the government announced plans for NHS frontline staff to be tested for the virus.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson as well as Health Secretary Matt Hancock have both tested positive for the virus.
