ONE of the greatest images of spring in the region has been declared off limits as visitors are asked to stay away from Farndale and its glorious display of daffodils and settle for photographs instead.
Locals in Farndale, on the North York Moors have appealed to people not to make the traditional hike through the park in March and April to see the thousands of flowers in bloom. The main car park has already been closed off.
Pete Dowsland Chair of Farndale Parish Council said normally they welcome everyone at this time of year but he said: "Because of COVID 19 we are under extreme pressure to try and protect our residents of this parish.
"This virus effects the elderly and vulnerable people with more severity and we do have a high percentage of such people in the parish. Therefore we ask that you stay away. We are a very strong, close and tight knit community and are pulling together in these terrible times with several households already in self isolation."
Instead although not a replacement images and videos have been put online.
