FARMERS and landowners have been told to avoid controlled burning amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The instruction to cease any form of setting prescribed fires follows requests from emergency services and local councils. There are concerns that controlled burning increases the risk of unintentional wildfires and that fumes from any form of fire may affect members of the public suffering from COVID-19.
United Utilities and Yorkshire Water have both issued the guidance to tenants and landowners.
