WINDERMERE Car Ferry service has been suspended from 2pm yesterday (Wednesday, March, 25) until further notice.
This is due to a shortage of staff who operate The Mallard.
Cumbria County Council said that the health and safety of ferry staff and passengers is always a top priority.
The council has taken the difficult decision to take The Mallard out of service because insufficient numbers of operational staff are currently available to safely run the ferry due to COVID 19, said a spokesman.
A further announcement will be made in due course about when the Windermere Car Ferry will be back in operation.

The Mallard can carry 15 cars and more than 100 passengers across England’s longest lake between Bowness and Far Sawrey.
