A PEDESTRIAN who died in the Yorkshire Dales in a collision involving a HGV has been identified as a visiting photographer from Perth, Australia.
The family of John Spurling, 74, have paid tribute to their talented father and his generous spirit. Mr Spurling died after the collision on Church Bank,, Aysgarth, on March 12.
The 28 year old driver from Cheshire was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. He was released under investigation and police have renewed appeals for witnesses.
Mr Spurling’s family said: “The profound sorrow at the loss of our dad in such tragic circumstances is almost overwhelming. His sudden loss has devastated us and his many friends.
"We are so grateful for the love and support shown.We’ve been reminded of his generous spirit, his remarkable patience, his talent and humour, many have shared special memories and stories of his kindness, which we’ve loved. He would be so humbled.”
