IT’S Mother’s Day and though everyone would like to go out and pamper their mums, there is nothing to do but to stay at home during the social distancing phase of the coronavirus pandemic.

As Prime Minister Boris Johnson told all bars, clubs, restaurants, cinemas, theatres and more to close until further notice on Friday, the whole country has been left wondering what to do to celebrate Mother’s Day.

The good news is that there are still ways to show your mum that she is valued, and The Lancashire Telegraph has comprised a list.

1. Home Pamper Session

Lancashire Telegraph:

It would have been a great day at a local spa to let any mum sit and enjoy a manicure or a relaxing back massage, but since this cannot be done outside, there’s no reason why we can’t take the manicure to her.

Look around the house for manicure essentials such as nail polish and nail files and if a manicure cannot be done, then perhaps you have some face masks lying around to use?

Or you can make your own face masks.

2. Move night-in

Lancashire Telegraph:

This may sound a little too casual for some, but this may be the perfect opportunity to spend some quality time together.

Pick her favourite film, grab some snacks and sit down to enjoy an evening of laughter.

Of course, this might be something you have already done, but you can order a takeout and send gifts to the house to make her feel special.

3. Video call

Lancashire Telegraph:

Not everyone will be able to see their mum, especially if they’re in self-isolation.

While sending gifts to their house will be nice, it still does not beat a conversation.

During this uncertain time even a video call over Skype or Facetime will make both your mum and yourself feel good.

So set aside some time and set up a call, pull out some old photos and show her, ask her about her childhood and let her know you are listening.

4. Cooked Dinner

Lancashire Telegraph:

If you can’t be with your mum to cook her a lovely meal, maybe you can make her something and leave it on her doorstep?

It isn’t a bad idea and gives you something to do too.

The perfect time to go googling for that carrot cake you always wanted to make, or the new lasagne recipe you’ve yet to try.

5. Write her a letter

Lancashire Telegraph:

This is a good reason to go old school now and send your mum a hand-written card for Mother’s Day.

Let her know how much you care by writing everything you’ve always wanted to tell her.

During these times it will be touching for her and she will appreciate the personal gesture.

You can even send her some pictures in the post, choosing from the many snaps you may already have on your phone.

These are our ideas but there are still plenty of ways to show your mum a wonderful Mother’s Day despite not being able to go out or spend it with her if you live away.

Let us know in the comments what you choose to do.
