THREE people are being treated for injuries after a three-car collision on Blackburn Road in Egerton.

Ambulances, fire engines and police cars were spotted at the scene, after the crash which happened at around 10am this morning.

An eyewitness said that one of the cars had had its roof cut off by fire crews at the scene.

The incident happened close to the Ciao Baby restaurant.

The North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) confirmed that three people had been injured, although none are believed to have suffered serious injuries.

NWAS also confirmed that one of those injured was a woman in her 20s.

Transport for Greater Manchester (TFGM) tweeted that the road was closed in both directions at The Cross Guns Inn.

The Number 1 Blackburn - Bolton services were also unable to operate into Greater Manchester due to the crash.

The road was reopened about one hour later.
