Wintry conditions are set to continue, with snow and ice warnings in place for the Furness area.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for snow and ice from today to last until the weekend.

Wintry showers and icy stretches likely to bring some travel disruption.

Paul Gundersen, Chief Meteorologist with the Met Office, said: “The flow of cold air over the UK will lead to heavy, wintry showers and icy conditions overnight.

"There is a Met Office Yellow warning for snow & ice for most of the UK north of a line from the central Wales to the Wash, except north-east England and eastern Scotland."

Barrow was blanketed with snow on Monday morning, causing the A590 to be closed between the Elliscales roundabout for Askam and Ulverston for much of the morning.
