STAFF at conservation charity the National Trust have invited people to a farming event this week.

The event will take place on Thursday February 27 at 7pm in the Fairfield Restaurant at Cockermouth Auction.

The Lake District landscape loved by millions is shaped by farming says the Trust, which owns more than 20 per cent of the Lake District National Park, much of it managed by its tenant farmers.

They are looking for solutions to secure a sustainable future for farming in the Lakes, working with tenants, industry experts and partners to ensure farmers are recognised for delivering a range of public benefits from tackling nature.

In addition to this, there will be a debate on the climate crisis, delivering cultural heritage, clean water, green energy, healthy soils, high quality food and access to great beauty and nature.

Anyone interested in attending should let National Trust staff know by emailing lakesfuturefarming@nationaltrust.org.uk.
