A NUMBER of key routes in south Cumbria will remain closed this weekend due to flooding caused by the weather of the past few weeks.

Meathop Road, which connects Meathop and Grange, will be closed until further notice.

Storm Ciara and Storm Dennis have caused some of the most severe flooding south Cumbria has seen in years. Residents are currently bracing themselves for two more weeks of forecasted rain.

Because of the high levels of lake water brought on by the sustained heavy rain of the past couple of weeks, Windermere Ferry also remains out of service.

At the beginning of next, week the U5745 through Broad Street, Windermere, will also close for two days to allow Cumbria Highways to carry out urgent carriageway settlement works.
