TRIBUTES have been paid to a kind-hearted “lovely lad” who has died after a horrific single-vehicle crash.

Conor Mitchell was taken to hospital with serious injuries after the collision in Skipton Road, Utley, Keighley, at around 1.25am on Thursday.

Yesterday, police revealed that the 26-year-old had died on Thursday afternoon.

Police have issued a further appeal for information, asking anyone with footage of the vehicle immediately prior to the crash to come forward.

Mr Mitchell, who was from Skipton and is thought to have lived in Bingley previously, was the driver and sole occupant of a silver Ford Focus, which was travelling towards Skipton along the B6265 when it left the road close to Yew Bank Lodge and hit a wall.

“You had the most biggest kindest heart, and we will miss you forever and a day! I can’t put into words the heartache you have left behind, I promise to look after your darling princess, we will keep your memories going and we will never forget you....EVER.

“See you on the other side of the stars babe.

“Go shine bright.”

“Sending all our love.”

A neighbour has spoken of the horrific scene when the car smashed into a wall near his home.

Neil Hibbert said he had just gone to bed shortly before 1.30am when there was a “phenomenal” noise.

“I’ve never heard a noise like it,” said Mr Hibbert, a chartered accountant.

“I’d been working late and was just about to go to sleep. Myself and other neighbours went outside to see what had happened.

“I rang 999 – I think quite a few people did – and the emergency services were there very quickly.”

The collision is now being investigated by the Major Collision Enquiry Team.

Anyone who can help police with their inquiries should call 101. The log reference is 94 of February 20.
