NEW restrictions on immigration into the UK will be a ‘wrecking ball’ to businesses, an MP has warned.
The Government said that people from outside of the UK will only be able to work in the Lake District hospitality industry if they earn at least £25,600 a year under new rules.
Reacting, South Lakes MP Tim Farron said: “The Conservative Government have unleashed a wrecking ball to the Lake District hospitality industry.”
He said there would be a ‘devastating impact’ on the Lakes’ visitor economy, with 20,000 people working there.
