Gary Wood, for Bishop, added: "I'm asking for a pre-sentence report. He realises the position that he is in and that the court will be looking to an immediate custodial sentence."
The judge, Recorder David Kelly, granted both defendants conditional bail and adjourned the case until March 24 for sentencing.
He said: "I am requesting pre-sentence reports, given the almost inevitable custodial sentence, I have had to very carefully whether you can be trusted to be given bail in the mean time or whether to remand you in custody, which will count towards your custodial sentence.
"I have decided to give you bail and the chance to put your affairs in order."
